What does "agent-ready" mean?

AI agents reach your site the way a browser does, but with far less tolerance. Most do not run JavaScript, none fill in your cookie banner, and many are blocked by firewall rules nobody remembers adding. Being agent-ready means your content is in the HTML, your rules are stated in machine-readable form, and the crawlers you want to allow can actually reach you.

Why "declared vs actual" matters most

Almost every agent-readiness tool reads your robots.txt and reports what it says. That tells you your intent, not your reality. It is common for a site to invite GPTBot in robots.txt while its CDN returns 403 to every AI crawler — the site looks open and is invisible. We fetch your homepage as each crawler and compare, so you find out.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the AI readiness score measure?
It is a weighted pass rate over the checks that apply to your kind of site. Critical checks such as server-rendered content and real crawler access count for three times as much as nice-to-haves. Checks we could not determine are excluded rather than counted as failures, and emerging protocols count as bonuses that can never lower your score.
Why does my site score differently here than on other agent-readiness tools?
Two reasons. We score only the checks that apply to your site type, so a blog is not marked down for lacking crypto payment endpoints. And we test whether AI crawlers can actually fetch your pages, not only what your robots.txt declares, so a site whose firewall blocks crawlers scores lower here than on tools that read robots.txt alone.
Do you really fetch my site as GPTBot?
We send a user agent containing each crawler's token followed by our own identifier, so we never fully impersonate another company's crawler. This still triggers the substring matching that firewalls typically use. A rule matching a crawler's exact user-agent string will not react to our probe, so a small number of blocks can go unreported.
Is llms.txt required to be agent-ready?
No. It is optional and advisory, and it is weighted accordingly. Having your content in server-rendered HTML and not blocking the crawlers you want matters far more than any single file.
Why is my score blank?
A blank score means we could not determine enough checks to score the site fairly, usually because of a timeout, a firewall, or a domain that no longer resolves. We deliberately do not report that as zero out of a hundred, because an unknown result and a genuinely failing site are not the same thing.
Are the results stored and shareable?
Yes. Each scan is saved and gets its own URL you can share. Results show when they were scanned, and you can re-run a check at any time.
